Lauryn’s career in the plastics industry began as a college intern, thanks to a friend’s recommendation, leading her to complete five co-op rotations with KraussMaffei, including two at their headquarters in Germany—a valuable experience for a University of Cincinnati student early in her career. She enjoys the insight into diverse materials, equipment, and innovations, particularly as the plastics industry explores advancements like new recycling techniques and improved processing methods. Her own positive experience with mentorship has inspired her to encourage others in her generation to consider careers in plastics, highlighting the industry’s range of opportunities across sectors like medical, automotive, and packaging.
Now, Lauryn designs and conducts experiments in KraussMaffei’s extrusion lab, focusing on internal research and testing for customers.
Lauryn believes that working in the plastics industry has given her a more accurate perspective on the positive impact plastic materials have on our environment and daily lives.
